There are various string instruments used in Orchestra, such as the cello, viola, violin, and the bass. You can say it is a great program that brings out the musical skills you thought you never had in you. Plus, it gives you a better understanding in general music.

The Kelly High School Orchestra began in 2003, and until this day, we have not had a year of disappointments. There has not been a year where we have not entered city or state competition and not come out successful. Since 2003, we combined for more than 50 individual awards. Mrs. Myles, one of the best music instructors in the state of Illinois,  was there to help us through hard times and difficulties in our music. 

 Kelly Orchestra was never thought to be so triumphant due to the overwhelming history of Band. We were considered "underdogs," but we came through and have been noticed by many throughout the city of Chicago.

We have performed in various honored areas such as Taste of Chicago, where we performed in front of a live audience. We also performed at NBC Studios were we helped bring music to a segment of Telemundo Television. We performed at Sheraton Hotel, where we were invited to perform for charity. 

 We also performed with the Chicago Sinfonietta Orchestra and were one of the few (student orchestras - D.S.) who did so, and finally, at the TCF Bank, where we were part of the annual “Cinco de Mayo” celebrations they were holding. These are some of the places we have played and we have many to come.
 We welcome any newcomers to this program,  and we await students who are ready to give the time, work, and love to join the Kelly Orchestra.
